Hi I am new to this site and the Q45 site is amazing here. I learned much and saved much. Sadly a few years back, I let a 90 q45 go that I didn't need to, after reading up from you folks here. Live and learn.

I have a 1995 q45 ,169k,with front wheel bearing issues. Come to find out it is nothing like any front wheel I have done. i want to replace the bearings. So I am not trained, don't have a ton of money or tools, but fairly mechanically oriented.

I would like to get help on how the heck to remove the front wheel bearing. I don't have new hubs, only bearings. Is the outter cap, like a truck axle cap? how I get to the hub and bearing?

I know I need to get it pressed in, but would like to remove it myself if possible.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I have saved money and got great satisfaction from not taking it to Infiniti from you guys!

http://www.nicoclub,com/pdfq45 I just did and found what you are looking for in the FA "front axle" section.

I have not done this R & R but it looks pretty straight forward. Drop the entire knuckle from the car. Take the knuckle to somewhere that has a suitable press and press the "bearing pack" out and press new one in.

Do not try to remove this bearing pack without a press, otherwise false economy and frustration will be the results. However sometimes heating the bearing hub will loosen it enough to beat the bearing pack out and freezing the new bearing pack before beating back it in the hub. Heat the hub freeze the bearing. Expansion and contraction. Best go to a press though.

The bearing pack is a sealed "for life?" unit and you will probably have to go to Nissan/Infinity for a replacement but only after you have exhausted all other options. You may score a replacement in the after market ? ? ? Maybe at a junk car yard? Not too good for such as the bearings but maybe cheaper. ? ? ?

Good luck Jack

Thanks Jack,I did a Search previously, and checked up on it, but could not find anything about-how to. So I appreciate this link.

Got a good price in NSK or SKF (can't remember). I have never seen a bearing unit like this. Will be a learning experience. Curious what kind of bearings are inside of that pack? Roller, Tapered, Ball and Roller, etc. I figured I might get slammed for not wanting to shelling out the big bucks here on the q45 site, because it is not a Maxima or whatever, but also I really like the group here, because the level of thought into the process is superior on the Nico site.

This is the 3rd Infiniti q45 we have owned, and I find they are wonderful cars, for a wonderful price. I am blown away when I look at the quality of this car compared with say my Pathfinder. But the 1990 was a step better even than the 95. That car was wild fast and solid.

RAP is correct about the press being the best route but if you had a bearing seperator you could do it yourself. Its pretty simple and straight foward. If you look in your FSM i beleive there is a picture of bearing seperator. good luck, i just installed new bearings on mine,no probs!!!
