Front View AVM Camera (in Drive) Disabled for Some States?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hey All,

I've been trying to find the answer to an issue that's been bothering me for awhile now, and despite numerous searches online I can't seem to find any concrete info. I have an 08 with nav and the AVM camera system, however when I press the "camera" button in drive, park or neutral at a speed of 5mph or under I get a quick flash to a black screen and a double beep. I know that the front view camera is working as I'm able to see it's portion of the AVM in reverse. I've also gone into the "secret menu" to run diagnostic test and it's working fine there as well.

The only info I was able to find was in the owners manual which stated that some states may require the front view camera to be disabled while in drive. I know that it won't work in any state at a speed greater than 5 or 6 mph, but it doesn't work for me at all (unless in reverse). The car was originally purchased in CT and registered in NY. Obviously Infiniti can't read the future to know what car will be purchased/registered in what state so if it is a case of being disabled for certain states it must be something the dealers are doing prior to pickup by the new owner? Therefore, I'm trying to find out if the above is indeed true, and if so is there a way to get the front-view-in-drive feature functioning again?

Thanks Guys, and my apologies if I've missed something obvious here...
