I am getting the P0420 "Catalyst efficiency below threshold (bank 1) " that all i30 and maxima owners seem to get. I have an '01 Infiniti I30.

So I took it to the dealer to get the ECM reflashed and they told me I also needed a new front O2 sensor (precat I assume) and a new front tube assembly. They said it would be over $1500 in part alone. I knew I could do it myself for a lot less.

But I don't know what they mean when they say "Front Tube Assembly", is that where my mass airflow sensor is or is it the front part of the exhaust pipe?

Thanks for any help.

Joe

PS I tried to search the forums but it only got people using the term not defining it.

Call the dealership and ask them what it is. I'm not sure if they're talking about the exhaust manifold or the y-pipe, or something altogether different.

if it's your headers or mid-pipe....just replace it with the CARB legal racing parts from http://www.cattman.com
