I recently got a new 2010 "S" Versa and happened to see this video from the site: http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/how-do ... -work.html
In it he says that all Versa's are shipped to the USA with the tow hooks and should be in the car at delivery. Is this true? Did anyone else's car come with them? Just wanted to know the story before I call the dealer and demand my hooks. BTW, the part number is: 51112-AC70A

I didn't get mine, so I went back to my dealer and told them I should have had one in the car. I got it then.

If what the guy in the video says is correct, why in the world would the dealer remove them??? Do they resell them? They got a box of 1000 tow hooks that they took out of cars just sitting in the back of their shop? It doesn't make sense.

the dude in that video says that the front hooks are used to ship the cars from the Mexico factory to the distribution center in the US. The transport company then removes the hooks and is supposed to put them in the cars before they are sent to the dealers. The dealer doesn't usually know they are missing unless the person buying it can't find it in the car.

Use the search button and find the old thread (maybe last Spring-ish) we talked about it.

Yeah, I finally found the other thread. I had searched before I made this thread, but somehow missed it. Looks like I need to go back to the dealer, anyhow, because I also do not have a lug wrench.

West Covina Nissan actually has it on their "New Car Delivery" checklist. I had to initial on the list that the salesman physically gave it to me. Too many were missing, either taken out and left out by the transport company or stolen from the cars off the lot.

my new 2010 did not have one when I got it, dealer tried to tell me most tow trucks have them with them, I just bought one online, didn't want to deal with them over it.

When I bought my 2008 V in 2007 I got one. It was in the little vinyl bag that had the lug wrench in it as well.

I went to Nissan on Saturday to ask about my missing tow hook. 1 out of the 6 people I spoke to even knew what it was. Then after 20 minutes after being given the run around I was told that since I bought it used from them I'd have to buy from them and then I could pay for them to "install" it. I explained once again there is no installation, it's just a bolt you keep in the trunk until you need it and I'm not paying for it.

Ehhh...since you bought it used then they don't technically have to give you one since you buy used cars "as is" except for any warranty left on it. Unfortunately doesn't sound like you'll be able to get one for free. If you bought it new then you could demand one since it is suppose to come with one. I had something like this happen to me when I bought my Xterra back in '04. I had some package on there that included a Xterra backpack. I never received one and didn't realize I was suppose to until I was bored one day waiting for service and broke out my window sticker. I found it on there and spoke with my salesman. He ended up having to order one for me. Funny thing is...I've never used it. It is still sitting in my closet. But hey...I paid for it somehow so I wanted it! :)

Anyway, you can order a tow hook from Courtesyparts.com for $43. http://www.courtesyparts.com/62680z-hoo ... cPath=6382&

$43 freaking dollars? No wonder so many of these are missing. Must be a pretty good black market going on with these down in Mexico or maybe even in the states.

$43 for a bolt. Wonder if I could find a bolt with the same thread pattern at Home Depot for $4.

Knowing Nissan it is probably a proprietary thread pattern.

I bought my 2009 versa NEW. There was no tow hook. I looked everywhere. Tough finding this out now.
