My girlfriend just bought a Coupe last Friday and wanted to take the front tag off. I don't live in the same place so I told her to just remove the screws and it should come right off..... anyway she sent me some pics that looked bad almost like the bumper had been drilled out from the back side I'm not there to help and this is frustrating and help would be appreciated.

i'd say buy an aftermarket fascia. once your bumper is drilled you're pretty much sol.

I kinda hate the plate in the front too... i also kinda think that those plugs look cheezy... comments from the peanut gallery? I was seriously considering the stillen fascia for 2 reasons alone... a nice grille... and no plate holes... But i cant do it bc of clearance.

Yay or nay on the plugs??

Don't know about the plugs or not seem like a good idea but not quit sold on the look. How come some of the coupes on this site don't have these holes in them.... is it a dealer choice to put the tag on the front?

Hah... first.. welcome to the forums... but its state law in many places that you have a front plate... although it may not be enforced, they drill all the bumpers when they come on the lot. Ive seen people plug them with like some sort of compound and stuff and ive never been really satisfied with the way it looks

It's up to the dealer to drill the front bumper for the license plate bracket.. unfortunately most cars these days don't account for that spot, so the dealer just grabs the screw and drills them in.

I was fortunate to pin the dealership before my G35 was victim to that, and managed to escape that.

We do manufacture front license brackets that utilize the front tow hook from the factory.. and I'm about 90% sure we have one in development for the Altima, but I will have to double check.

Here's the ones we carry for the 350Z / G35 / Sentra, etc.

I was looking at other posts and found pics like the ones posted on the Repainted Chrome "Mustache" (Pics) post on page 5 almost at the bottom of the post there are pics of a front bumper that looks stock is this how they look before the dealer drills them out? (Don't know how to reference other posts yet tried a link but it didn't work sorry)

thanks for the all the responses this site has been a terrific source of information.

So what are my options if I don't want a front tag and the dealer has drilled out the holes in the bumper already?

1. Plug it.2. New Bumper. (Wonder if I could talk the dealer into getting a new one)3. Find a really nice front tag

well im not really concerned about showing the plate... more about the holes in the bumper! Theres also a flip up one from underneath where you can hide the plate entirely... but again... i still have the damn holes!

Seems like the dealer would ask if you wanted a front plate or not instead of drilling holes in the bumper that is just stupid I understand if it's a law in that state (bought it in TN) but they should still be up front with you...

although state law requires a front tag, my car came looking like this with no front mount drilled into my bumper.

Nice!

See the little square off-center from the bumper, that is removable, and the tow hook exists behind there, which you can affix (though most people probably do not roll with them 100% of the time) a license plate bracket, and get signed off.

Bumper plugs are the other alternative.. if the damage is already done.

Thanks.....

Guess I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow to see if anything can be done if not I might be calling you Josh and getting the front facia to go along with the spoiler that I'm ordering tomorrow.

LOL.. um.. I hope the dealership.. um.. doesn't work out? You drive a hard bargain..

But really.. good luck.. it's definitely standard operating procedure at almost all dealerships.. it's really tough to get them not drilled..

LOL it's my girlfriends car so major changes like that will have to pass through her but I like the looks of the Stillen front facia not quite sure about the open area at the bottom yet but I'll have to study it some more. Love the spoiler though best looking one on the market just wished it came painted that way it would cut out a step before the instillation. I'm also leaning towards the Stillen exhaust by the time I'm done it will prob. have more parts from you guys than Nissan.... LOL so any deals are welcome helps make it a easier sell.

I just took my front plate off. I used the Bumperplugs to fill the holes and am pretty satisfied with the look. They are alot less noticeable then the front plate and a helluva lot cheaper then a new bumper!
