Ok, I've posted about this before. The car has H&R sport springs and Tokico blues. So far I have replaced the tension rod bushings with polyurethanes and replaced the strut mounts. The clunk is still there. It went away for a little while, but, it's still doing it. Sometimes it won't do it, sometimes it does. Seems like it does it worse when I hit a bump with only one tire. I'm thinking that it is the sway bar bushings or endlinks. The car drives perfectly fine, just makes some clunk sound when i hit a bump sometimes. Anyone have ideas?? I've been pretty busy, havnt had time to check it out, but, I'm going to make it a point to do a thorough inspection of that sway bar tomorrow!!

make sure both bolts holding the knuckle to the shocks are tightened to spec, well, make sure anything u've loosened b4 is tightened to spec. do u have your bumpstops installed with the tockicos?

Everything is tight man. It's been doing this since I bought the car. The springs and struts were already on the car when I got it. What bumpstops?? You mean the boots on the struts?? It only takes a small bump to make it make that sound, so, I dont think that is the problem. I'm still leaning towards the sway bar.

My dad's maxima is making clunking sounds and i turned out to be the strut, so from what it sounds like is that it's a strut because even the little bumps it does it to the maxima to.

I don' think it's the struts man, they are pretty new. I know for a fact that they only have about 20,000 miles on them and when I removed them not too long ago to install the strut mounts, they are still VERY stiff.

Check your tension control rod bushings. If you see oil or goo leaking from them they are shot and that's the cause. I had clunking noises too but they disappeared after I bought some TEIN T/C rods

Already had those replaced with polyurethane. I'm gonna go check the darn sway bar bushings and end links now.

ok, I still dont see anything out of the ordinary. Now, here is a good question. Are the "boots" that were on the stock struts supposed to be installed on the Tokicos?? The actual boot is pretty much gone, but, the thick rubber bump stop is still there. I'm thinking that may be what is causing the sound. Anyone have Tokicos and H&R sports with the bump stops not in place?? Just want to make sure that this wont cause a problem if if the suspension bottoms out....lol.

I have Kyb Agx's and RS*R race springs on my s14 and i have the same noise going over bumps sometimes and i haven't been able to figure it out either. Everything is tight on mine to, so i just figured i was going to have to live with it. HOw often does yours do it, mine seems to only be rarely.

go under the car when its park and take a big chanel lock and check the supention parts for movement, your problem could be worn out tie rods or the sway bar bushines could be loose, my sway bar bushine were worn out and it was keeping a clunding noise, also raise the car up and move the wheel to check the wheel bearings and all the movible suspention pars.

Yeah, done most of that already. I have looked real closely at the sway bar endlinks, no play there. No play in any steering linkage or wheel bearings either. The car is TIGHT, drives like a brand new one, it's just as tight as that Kouki I drove that only had 20,000 miles on it. I need to check the sway bar bushings next. I'll find it, or I'll replace things until it goes away....lmao.

I installed SPL tension rods and Tein tie rods/ends and now my steering clunks every once in a while while turning...Haven't gotten under there to check, but if those are tight what else could possibly be making that noise?

My car does it too, except mine will even do it when i hit the brakes once in a while, and i cant figure out what it is either. I think its something with the tension rods and their support brackets im gonna check that out this weekend

Mine does the same thing has for a couple of months now, turned out to be the top mount bearings, aka upper strut mount, just haven't gotten around to replacing them. It's most apparent on the drivers side, it clunks and squeeks when turning in reverse and forward on hills. The passenger side clunks under accel and brake. This may be your problem as well.

hey i have tokiko blues on the front and rear of my 95 240sx and im having the same problem in the front as you are. i didnt install the dustboots or bumpstops as was mentioned above. mine only makes that clunking noise whenever i go over a speed bump or if i ride over a small inclined bump. it never makes the noise when im turning and it doesnt matter how slow or fast i go over a bump and it still makes the noise every once in awhile. im begining to wonder if its just something that should have been recalled by tokiko. other than the noise my car rides really nice and the noise doesnt make any difference in the ride quality. hopefully someone could help us out with our problem.

oh by the way, before i installed the Tokikos i had the factory struts on and my car never made that noise until after the Tokikos were installed, this is mainly why i think that its something inside the strut itself.
