Hello,
I went to the suspension thread and saw the comments on the eibachs and Tien springs but not much on the shocks/struts.
I'm looking to replace my front struts but want to know if there is a better than stock alternative?

Because you have an X, you can only buy two of the four aftermarket. The other two have to come from the dealer as far as I understand. Last I knew, the full set was like $750. Might as well spend $900 and get BC or D2 coilovers and just run them on their softest settings...just as nice as stock.

when i replaced mine, back in 2013-2014, i had to buy OEM for the fronts and KYB rear. I'm not sure if KYB has an updated version where you can use for the fronts. Overall it should be cheaper than going Coils if price is a main concern.

I would never suggest that you do anything that is outside of a manufacturer's recommendations, but I might know "someone" who replaced the front struts on an '06 M35X with these from KYB

KYB 340010 Excel-G OE Replacement Shock
KYB 340011 Excel-G OE Replacement Shock

They are technically for a G35X, but they look and ride identical to our M35X struts.
