I hate to bring back this old thread to life, but i have a question..... You mentioned something about a modified "tab". I have read this thread and AZhitmans thread about this, and i want to make sure I understand before I get one. What needs to be modified in this tab?? Thanks

Sorry to bump this thread but this is something I definitely want to do to my car. Here is an ebay link:

Hi, Nick.

The one above does not look like an adjustable one - you might ask the seller. It would be better to get one that can adjust, since you need to make sure that the strut towers are properly loaded.

So, the following might be a better choice:

However, the one that Jeff installed was made by Bomz Racing. I did not see one at eBay when I just looked a few minutes ago (although I bought mine from there too!). This is available from other sources at a bit higher price too (fwiw, I paid $23 for mine at eBay). If you can wait a bit, they do show up at eBay occasionally - just need to look again later.

Sorry I was out of town, when this thread resurfaced.

The modification is basically re-drilling the mounting holes for the hyme joint. It is adjustable, and you can pre-load it, but the threads are not reversed, and you have to use a jack to raise the car a bit, to release suspension pressure.

I had to cut the tabs off about an inch, on either side, because the Q45 strut towers are closer than the I30 (FWD vs RWD).

The mod is easy, and can be done with a hack saw, hand file, and battery drill, in about 60 minutes.

I have full size pics of the bar installed in my Q45, and my I30, so email me, and I will send them to you.
