Not a painted one.. but I can definitely make sure we shoot some shots of a unfinished urethane one against the sedan we'll have next week. Nothing magazine ready, but should give you a realistic idea of the shape/size..

That being said.. shoot me an email, if you're willing to get it painted and installed ASAP, I'll make it worth your while...

Alright... I've been waiting for this. The splitter on the original bumper + a nice new grille (any word on that, Josh?) would be perfect...

We have talked about our own lip spoiler and front fascia, but they have not hit the modeling shop as of yet..

We are having a altima sedan in next week, so for you sedan guys, we're not ignoring you, things are in the works..
That is a GREAT statement to hear. There mainly coupe owners on nicoclub but almost every other altima forum im subscribed to is more sedan owners compared to coupe.

Hmm, the only thing I know about splitters is that they are causing hell for nascar. debris always gets stuck in there and overheats the engine. Then again I dont think you will be driving 190 mph, and the air intake doesnt come from below the bumper anyway!

^^^

Thats not going to affect the altima in the slightest. It's just an extension of the front bumper. It creates a drag coefficient on the front to pull it down and give it down force.

That isn't true - the reason that FWD has a traction advantage over RWD in inclement weather is because of the extra weight of the engine over the drive wheels. So pushing down of the front of a front wheel drive car will increase traction. - this would also counteract the natural tendency of a car to shift weight to the rear on heavy acceleration - (bad for FWD - Good for RWD).

Half your statement helps johnny_d's comment but the other half is against it. Good traction on fwd but its bad at the same time?

His statement is completely true. FWD has better traction in snow, rain, etc because is has a lot of weight over the moving wheels. RWD has better traction during acceleration because when your car moved forward the weight tries to move backwards. Newtons 3rd law of motion. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore with FWD, the weight moving backwards reduces traction in the front of the car during acceleration but RWD cars capture that inertia and use it because the engine and inertia are powering the rear wheels.

So in the end would the splitters be GOOD for our cars or BAD.

To be honest, I think the difference wouldn't be that noticeable...

I think the answer is:

@ Low speed or no speed = Good or Bad depending if you lik the way it looks.

@ High speed the downward force would be the benefit = GOOD.

But, remember, you've got to be going pretty fast to benefit, so I think this mod (for those of us on public roads) is more eye candy than a real performance application.

Now, if you're going to try and convert your A/C into a time attack car (or something for a race track) then there may be a performance edge.

Two cents,-- Wind

Yea this isn't going to do much for the performance of your car. A tiny amount maybe. Its going to be mostly cosmetic

So are you supposed to paint these? From all the photos that I've seen, I thought it was normal to leave them in the natural black unpainted color.

If I buy one, I wouldn't pay an extra 300$ (lucky canadian me) to have it painted

Josh is going to check now and call me back, he doesn't believe they would be to far away. Seems like it was pushed to the back burner while the sedan front fascia isbeing developed

it doesnt make the OEM bumper any more aggressive......on the Stillen bumper it prolly would. I found a company that will do custom made ones but even after sponsorship it'd be 250. The only problem is I'm already scraping the Stillen bumper on a couple of steep inclines. With splitters on, i'd prolly crack it or rip it off lolz
