The other day when i was checking my speakers due to them sounding kind of faded. To my horror the speakers were soaking wet (It had rained the night before) and it had made an audible difference. I went out and got some foam baffles and put them in. Driving the next few days i noticed that the high's were way sharper but the mid's/low's were basically gone. At first i thought i had wired one of the speakers wrong and the polarity was messed up. When i took everything apart again and noticed the speaker cone not nearly coming out as far, in fact it was barely moving at all. I unscrewed them from the baffle and instantly the cone started to move like normal, When i put it back in it went back to barely moving.

Obviously it has something to do with air pressure not being released, but without the baffle the speaker gets wet, so basically my question is, How can i keep my sound quality and protect my speakers? Should i cut slits in the baffle to release air?
I have Polk 6.5's in the front.
