So i just got my S14 (95) a few days ago and one of the first things i noticed was that the front speakers dont seem to work.

At first i thought it was the fader, but when i faded it to the back, it still sounded the same, and when i faded it to the front, it was almost completley mute (with a tiny bit of sound coming from the back, if loud enough).

So... i dont know anything about car audio, so i have no clue what it is. The only thing i can think of is either A, the speakers are blown, or B, its somthing with the wiring, and if thats the case, i still would have no clue.

Anyone got anything?

Assuming you have not sort of test equipment, take the door card off and hook up another speaker(test speaker) and see if it works.

I dont have extra speakers just laying around lol

my friend said its probably not bown because if it was, then when i faded it to the front instead of being quiet, it would just sound all staticy and nasty, so it might be the wiring, but i dont know anything about that

It depends to what degree the speaker is blown. 50% of the blown speakers I replace for customers don't work at all. Do you have a multi meter? Or can you borrow one from somebody?

Also is there a factory amp in the car?

I have no clue what a multimeter is, and if the car didnt come with an amp OEM then my guess is no.

The only thing done to this car as far as audio (or anything at all) was this 6 disc CD changer installed from the front, and you have to go to a preset radiostation to hear it. Im still rockin the OEM tapedeck.

I would try to fix it for the time beign since i dont have the money to spend on new speakers and id rather save up for nice ones rather than getting cheap ones now, but i have no clue what i would be doing or getting into.

Take it to a shop then..... they shouldn't charge much more than $35 to check it all out.

most places it's like a 30 dollar or so diagnostic fee. And also when i replace blown speakers for customers about half don't play anything at all when they come in. So just keep that in mind.

I asked my dad what he thought about that and he said hed be able to check it out with me next weekend or somthing instead.

So for now... i guess if its the wiring he will help teach me how to fix that. If its blown, then ill start saving for new ones all around

Separate issue, my radio gets **** reception. Ive read the DIY stubby antenna gets slightly worse reception than stock. Now i figured his stock antenna had good reception and mine is just messed up. Either way though, i like the look of the S2000 antenna better

Would that be hard to install? Im guessing since its from a newer car and its meant to have that design to the antenna, it should be getting pretty good reception, am i right?
