I have 2004 G35 with 27,000 mileage now. When I got maintenance service one week ago, I checked Front Rotors & Break pad since I felt brake was not working well. Jim Coleman Infiniti said FRONT ROTORS ARE A BIT WARPED, PADS ARE AT 35% and service guy asked me to pay $650 to replace them. As I check with Infiniti customer service, special break maintenance program was added to 2003/04 G35 to replace them for free. I also found CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT regarding of this problem. Does anyone know whether it is affirmed? I couldn't find it is filed on law case though. BTW, Jim Coleman Infiniti told me they are going to replace them for me for free WHEN BREAK PADS ARE AT 0%. Does it make sense? No one can agree with this, I guess. When break pads are totally worn out, if there is any accident due to break while on the way to go to dealershop to replace, who is going to be responsible? I checked with customer service representative regarding of %, but she said she has no idea about % due to technical problem and recommend me to stop by another dealershop. Does anyone know the standard % to replace FRONT ROTORS & BREAK PADS not being charged since it is under warranty? or Could you guys let me know which dealershop is the best in northern virginia? also, let me know where is the appropriate to file complaint about Jim Colemann dealershop's service? I was really upset by one service guy who shout me out to enforce me to drive the car until break pads are at 0%. I'd like to know phone number, email address that can directly impact him. If anyone let me know it, It would be appreciated.

I would think it to be more likely that 0% is when the pads are worn down to the wear indicators - not worn down to bare metal. I don't actually know for sure, though.

I would agree with benemorius as far as the interpretation of 0%.

As far as replacing them then and not now, I'd speculate it's because warping is not part of the warrnaty extension. The extension has to do with premature wear. The dealer can get this included in a warranty when the pads are worn to the limit, but not before that. The rotors would be resurfaced at that time and would solve the warped rotor problem.

Not try to be a ***, or anything ( not talking about you kjlim, I am just trying to make a point). But why is people crying about their brakes wear out too fast??? And then sueing a car company just because of it??? Brakes wear is really depends on the way the person that drives it! My Wife got 80K out of her 01 corolla Pads because she brakes slow not dump it and her sister has the same car only get 30K out of it because she drives like me(Since I am the one who teach her how to drive)! Nissan don't put Brembos on 05-up G35C 6 Speeds, because people crys about the cost of the brakes! Suck up the cost, you are driving a performance car! I can understand if belts goes out too fast or something! but brakes is something up to the driver! Reason why I am piss is because at my work many Z owners cry about their brakes wears out to fast, and when you look at the tires, it looks like they just went to Road Atlanta and do burn out!

If I am you, just go buy some Hawks,OEM,Endless or EBCs and have some other shop other then the dealer turn your rotors and install the pads for about $100+the cost of pads!

Considering the fact that the maker saw fit to replace them for free, chances are good that there is actually a problem or deficiency. Not everyone drives like you and I.

That is total BS a TSB report came out from the manufacturer regarding this issue. Brakes for the 03-04 coupes and sedans NON BREMBO's only are covered for 3yrs/36k miles. I had mine replaced twice but they still couldn't fix it. After the second return I just gave up on the brakes because all they will do is clean it. Print the TSB report and show it to that moron of a service writer. If he doesn't get it fix show it to the service manager. BTW, after being frustrated with the brake issue I just finally replace mine with aftermarket rotors and pads. Problem gone, problem solve don't have to deal with the stupid Infiniti warranty.
