im need need of desperate help =(

ive read at least 10 step by steps on removing the front rotor but i get several different stories. a pretty common one is the front rotors should slide off after removing the calipers. for me, this isnt true. my chilton's manual says i have to take off the wheel hub but is lacking in detail and doesnt have a picture. i've gotten as far as removing the rotor with the wheel hub. i didnt want to go any further because i might disassemble something i dont want to disassemble. please help!

thank you

The front rotors SHOULD slide right off, I know mine did.

If they don't, look for small threaded holes near the middle of the rotor. Thread a bolt into them and that should eventually push the rotor away from the hub.

If you don't have those holes.... damn. Maybe you could separate them with a sharp blow from a rubber mallet?

yeah.. i tried banging it a couple times then decided agaisnt it, in case i dont get the rotor on and will have to use the original one =)

ive seen a faq that says to bolt into the smaller thread holes, but i dont have a bolt that size. does anyone know the size of the bolt so i can go get one?

that happened to my rear brake rotor. I used a hammer and a good whack. It came off with a little wiggling even after that. I think it was the rust.

My rear rotors wouldn't just slide off either.I poped the hood and started looking for bolts that would fit the threaded hole in the rotor. After about a minute I found one.The bolt that connects the ground wire to the engine(actually the intake) worked just fine for me.Just make sure you reinstall the bolt after your done.:)

heh. don't you love how rust will keep a rotor welded to a hub. find yourself a nice deadblow hammer and whack the rotor from multiple angles. i just removed my rotors today on my tempo and they were very much rusted on. whack the back, whack the sides, whack the front. anything to loosen them and they'll slide right off of the hub

Not sure about the 240s, but on my car the front and rear rotors use different size bolts for whatever reason. One used 8mm, the other used 10mm. Can't remember the pitch though (1-1.5?). I keep a pair of each type in my toolbox.
