I have done tons of searching on several forums about this but havent come up with anything. i have seen a few companies advertising a special front plate mount that swings up at around highwayspeeds. something like that would look fine while standing but would be great for intercooler air flow while traveling at high speeds. ive seen one place selling one by ab flug for like 100 bucks or so, anyone know anything about these and where i can find a cheapo knock off? its not really something you need a very well laid out design for so a cheapie is the best.

alot of ppl just mess around with springs on hinges.... the stiffer the spring, the more force it'll take for it to fold, the softer the spring, etc...

I throw mine up on the dash wedged under the windsheild. At "highway speeds";) I just take it down.

Just hang it with soe wires... that should do the trick...although it will be swinging all the time but who cares right?

i like the idea of the springs cuz at standing still and barely moving it looks like its staying put. its just when you start doing something you shouldnt be it folds up :) id kinda rather have something someone else did that spend hours and close to the same amount of money to half *** this than i can probabbly find one made for

Yeah I do the same as the Scientist. I just didn't want to drill holes in my newly painted front bumper.

heh. i actually found one at http://www.teammiata.com/TM305.htm for only 30$. This is for a miata but it doesnt matter im sure it can be rigged in to work right. thing is the plate hides away at about 20mph which is a little low for me :-/ id rather have it more at highway speeds cuz something that low would more than likely flop around a bit. ill probabbly try putting in a better spring or something.

hmmmm.... idea....

get some wires, a motor, some microswitches, and a relay.and tape or glue, whatever you want. maybe some sheetmetal screwes.

but however you do it, you could have it triggered by the 5th gear switch in the transmission. so bam, gear 5 and the plate goes away. out of 5 and it comes back down.

should be from 3rd or 4th... coz in a race, dont u usually downshift to 3rd or 4th in highway speed?

true, but i do alot of legal things at 3rd and 4th too, so id rather have it only flip up when i do illegal things which is why i like the spring loaded flip up.

go to a mom-n-pop stereo shop and get an actuator and a 12v relay. hinge one side and use the actuator on the other. 12v relay can be powered all the time and use a ground to fire it... anything from an in-****pit switch or button or even output from a gauge or tach could be used.
