i just bought a pilot motorsports front strut tower bar for my 95 240sx. took me 5 mins to adjust and install it to my car. i tested the car and i was really impressed. the handling was much much better than before, i can conner tighter and quicker than before, the car feels really strong and stiff when i ran over potholes.

the bar is very high quality unlike those ebay bars. it looks like the cusco one. i only paid $36 included shipping for the bar. i got it from http://www.overnightautoparts.com . i've never had a brand name strut bar like greddy or cusco or nismo... before so i cannot compare them. but all i can say is that the bar worths more than what i've i paid for.

here are some pics

im only a high school student so i cannot afford brand name bars

That bar is worthless. Small diameter round tubing, and hinges. Probably thin endplates and cheap materials as well. Yes it's cheap, but it's not worth it when you take into account that it does NOTHING. Tower bars are also pretty much worthless when you aren't running higher than 5kg/mm spring rates.

how can you say tower bars are "worthless," Ok... so manufactures are wasting their money then right???

Think about the factory cars that do have STB's and have less then 5kg springs??? My old civic Si had them... not sure if they did anything but nevertheless why the hell would a manufacture put them in?? for looks?? HA. On top of that, they are thin as hell with small bars.... you want effective, weld a bar.... either way flex will happen to the weakest point wheather its on an appron (components of the strut tower), subframes, or chassis itself.

I'm not trying to rip on you, but.... but please consider the 'whole' and not talk so acutly.

I wouldn't say STBs are worthless, rather "not as effective" as it's intended for.

alot of people run the hinged stbs, some say they're not effective because flexing can make the hinges go up and down.. idunno if that was how it was designed though..

lots of people also run solid stb, they say they love em.

its a matter of opinion and choice.. if i were in the position for stb, i'd probably make my own. lol

compairing a support structure engineer into car, with the rest of the car structuarly built off it is not quite the same as bolting on a pole after the fact. Not saying they dont help but your not compairing the same thing. There are most likely structual differences in the design of the front end of the car when a STB is included from the factory.

Aftermarket bars also have to be made to be able to accomidate for settling of the chassis, You note hinges on most. Factory bars are put on when everything is new and are solid, with no extra points to flex or give.

That thin piece of $36 metal does the same job as the more expensive name brand bars on the market. So, yes, it is a great bang for the buck.

To me it looks way more like the Greddy strut bar (i have the Greddy). I have Pilot's rear bar, and it is a quality piece as well. The bar itself is oval in diameter, not round. Really looks nice (when i look in my trunk that is...). Rear didnt make near as much difference as the front, tho.
