So about a week ago my car was a victim of a hit and run and I went to a shop and they said it was gonna cost 600 to fix and I look at the damage and it doesnt seem that bad I was wondering if from what the pics look like do you think I could do it myself and maybe tell me how I can do it the only big problem with the dent is that when I open my door it hits the fender so I cant even open it that much so I need help on how to take off the fender and realign it and of course get the dent out any help would be greatly appreciated.

ghetto pull it for cheap way.

Go to "Body" then "body front end" scroll down till you see the one with the bumper off.http://www.240edge.com/manuals/91-94_240sx/bf.pdf

you have to take the bolts from the fender off from under the hood, remover the plastic well, and look for remaining bolts..

is this a coupe or fastback?

wheel alignment?

With the dent on my cuz's car, we used a rubber mallet on the outside (soft and hard tip hammer) and a rounded piece of wood inside the fender to get the curve back.

It takes like 30 mins to get it fair looking, and about an hour if you are a perfectionist

wasnt trying to be a jerk, sorry. but ya ag240 is right, and once you get back to how it should be, or close you may be able to buff some of that crap out so it will look decent.

wait what do you mean a mallet on the outside? I was just going to use a mallet on the inside and hit the inside to pop it out? what does the wood look like and how do you use it on the inside of the fender? and by alignment I meant how to align the fender because the way it was hit it was pushed towards the door so now when I try to open the door it hits the fender on the bottom where there isnt even a dent?

ok, if you pop the fender dent out, you'd just have a dent left on your door.just find a way to get the door dent and your good.

Sorry if i confused you. Try hammering the dent out with mallet from the inside, then to get the curve back, use the mallet on the outside, with a rounded wooden block on the inside to achieve said curve.

thanks for all of your help man and yeah I will try that for sure and the door isnt dented its the fender that got pushed more towards the door so when I open the door it hits the fender because its to close so hopefully getting the dent out will fix it

Even if you can pound the dent out, it looks like you will need paint. I would say your best bet to fix it yourself is to try to find a used matching fender/door to replace it with. It is easy to figure out how to take them off if you just look at them.

Do you have uninsured motorist protection on your insurance? What is your deductible? You might want to talk to your agent.

yeah I was thinking about that but im not sure if I want to get a whole new fender when I can just fix this one and I dont think I will need paint because when I got hit it doesnt have any paint transfer its just the dent and its only on the fender my door is fine so I am wondering if anyone knows how to align the fender right and if I have uninsured motorist does that mean a hit and run will be covered and all I have to pay is a deductable

Just get a new fenders and paint it.Or try the freezing then heating technique.Ive seen the trick work on some dents, im not so sure it will work on yours though.

Go to a local junkyard.....you may be lucky and find a black one which would be an easy fix....otherwise you can just have it painted. I paid $35 per fender when I got mine.

Ok so yesterday I took the fender off and I actually bent the worst part of the dent out with my hand then I took a hammer and a piece of wood and I put the wood on the inside of the fender and hit it with the hammer in the spots where it was still a little bent and it came out looking so good and I realigned the fender so the door opens perfectly now and I didn't have to pay anything as opossed to paying 600 bucks and there is no paint marks or anything on the fender I will take pics soon I hope this info helps anyone who has had fender damage and doesn't want to pay a crap load of money.
