Just had my rogue fixed for transmission problem couple of weeks back. I live in buffalo, ny and the past two weeks its been freezing. Last week my front passenger side door cannot be opened from the outside. I thought maybe it could be the freezing conditions that the things are frozen but recently the weather temperature has risen again but it still cant be opened.

To my surprise my friend who owns a 2009 rogue that lives in the same area as i do has the same exact problem as I have and it happened just a few days ago.

Could this be a problem that is happening to all rogues in cold temperatures?

Another thing is that there my passenger side door has only been opened maybe twice a week before the door stopped opening.

My car is no longer in warranty as it has been over a year, so I really do not want to pay for something that is a defect in build quality by nissan.

Its my understanding that minimum warranty is three years for Rogue. Please double check on this with your dealer.

ahh i see now online that it is Basic: 3 year / 36,000 miles ?

but then im also looking at where it says, would it fall under one of these instead for the door?:

Replacement Parts12,000 miles / 12 months

Limited warranty on Nissan replacement parts and accessories. Covers any repairs needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship of Nissan replacement parts/accessories.

Adjustments12,500 miles / 12 months

Covers service adjustments not usually associated with the replacement of parts.

Haven't had or heard of the problem despite temperatures below -30 degrees Celcius (-22 F) lately.

Last Winter, a bunch of us canucks were having issues with the tail gate latch not closing properly in extreme cold weather, but that's a different mechanism I believe.

We actually just discussed it last week. I had a problem with my drivers door last friday. It is 33k miles on my Rogue and 2 years old. It's been fixed free of charge and they also washed my car . I'm living close to Buffalo but as far as I know it is usually a lot more snow in Buffalo than in Rochester. So just go to any Nissan dealership and they should be able to help you.zer...-open

Yes, it seems the door open linkage for the exterior handle likes to mysteriously 'pop-off'. Mine was fixed under warranty, but it's not a simple fix as they must remove the door panels and part of the power window assembly to get at the door lock.

I believe that was part of the recall. I was bringing my 09 in for service and asked them to check the recall. They said that I had 4 recalls including the front door handles. I haven't received my recall letter yet, but your dealership should be able to look it up.

Mine is getting this repaired as we speak. They temporarily fixed it but, had to order the part. So now it's back in there. They've never said anything about the recall for the door handles. This did happen under the same conditions as the OP.

When I went to pick it up from service, they asked me if I had had trouble getting into my driver's side door. I hadn't, but they said that when the service guy went out to get the car, he couldn't get in. They said that something disconnected inside the door, but that that was what the recall was addressing. Apparently the fix is a 2 hour job so I hope they fixed it the first time. Hopefully your fix still covered under warranty.
