What's the deal with the front passenger seat airbag light coming on (orange light next to the hazards)? (Airbag disengaged)

It happens when my girlfriend sits there. (Airbag disengaged)

When there is no weight there no light comes on. (Airbag engaged)

When there is a lot of weight there the light stays off. (Airbag engaged)

Must be that the system turns off the airbag when there is only a certain range of weight (to identify a child or childseat there)...

So she must fall within that range is my guess.. haha!

Can anyone confirm this?

I dunno how the sensor detects it but the funny thing is my best friend will sit in the passenger seat and the damn thing will stay on, or flash, but I have seen smaller people sit in there and the airbag light is is off as well. I dunno if its density or what but he seems throw it off your GF could be like him.

Mine does the exact same thing. If i put my lunch bag or my girl freind sits there the light comes on. When nothing is in the seat, the light stays off! What is up with this. I asked the dealership to check it out and they said it was functioning normally and i should read the owners manual and thats where they left. Wortheless dealerships!!!

It's supposed to be a weight thing since airbags can be deadly to children. Dont know why it wouldn't activate for a 110 lb GF though. Hmmm

Scott21384, what spoiler do you have on your car.

Yeah, I figured it was the weight range for a small child. My gf is quite light, but that truly isn't safe for the airbag to be off when she is sitting in the front. I think I'll bring this up next time I'm at the dealership and see if it can be reprogrammed as it is not safe as is with the light coming on and off and on and off.

I am at work and do not have a picture of it right now from the back. It is the same spoiler as the first one shwon in the folling thread. I think it is the best looking spoiler out so far IMO
