front oil seal question

Hello,

I have another quick question that doesn't appear to be referenced here on this forum:

I would like to replace my front oil seal next weekend but the FSM is not that clear in one aspect: Do I need to actually remove the front cover from the block in order to do this, or can I remove and replace the front seal with the front cover still attached? I know it sounds like an odd question, but if I don't have to remove the front cover, it seems like the job becomes much easier.........

Also, in a completely unrelated question: What exactly are the tightening torques for the valve cover bolts? My 1991 FSM DOES NOT have them listed ANYWHERE. I double and triple check my info before I'm forced to post here as I don't want to waste space and people's time!!!

Without crawling under the car this instant to double check that I don't have some crazy problem lurking there, it seems that you have given me exactly what I need to swap out the front seal.

i was wondering the samething. so did you end up taking the whole cover off or did you just remove the pulley and install the oil seal?

you dont take the front cover off.
