front mounter intercooler and power intake

This might be a stupid question so forgive my ignorance but i noticed something taking a look at the intercooler and also the power intake. Where the cooler pipes coneect i also have a pipe that is not connected to anything at all. Its sort of just there with an open end. The power intake also has an open end pipe not connected to anything either. Is this how they are supposed to be?
