Does anyone know where I can get a kit to install my front mount ( stock r33 GTR FMIC) I see a bunch of kits but they are all for the greddy style FMIC. If there isn't does anyone have any pictures of their setups and a good website to order the piping ?

I'm not really sure what the most effecient way of plumbing the pipes would be.

Thanks !!

My piping is custom (I bought everything like this), but it's similar to the RB-Performance intercooler kit. (rb-performance.net - but their site is down).

mines the same way... and i cant justify how s***ty my efficiency is. it drops maybe 4-8* in temp. . . but the person that welded mine up sucked at it because there are leaks everywhere.

using a stock r33 gtr fmic is going to add in alot of pipe work as you'll have to bring it up and back around to the stock jpipe unless you remove it.here's how i did it on the last engine swap i did...rb that is.

Supposedly Rb Performance is no more. I just bought the FMIC online as well as the charge pipe materials and had a friend who could weld do the fabwork for me.

If you decide to sell that stock r33 fmic to get one that has the in and out on the same side, let me know. I'm putting in a 26 and my puny s14 fmic I used on the rb20 just won't be enough.

I am about to buy either this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...AX:IT

OR this one, because it flows all the way across:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors....m245

I will probably have to weld a little to seal it, but frak paying for an aftermarket intake manifold. I have an rb20 and they are over priced like crazy. One thing I heard though. My friend has a turbo eclipse with this type of ic and I think his doesn't get much better performance than his old side mount. I think it is due to it not being a cross flow style ic, as in the inlet and outlet pretty much don't have any restriction between them side to side. If you want a nice fmic with stock intake, look into these cars for a usable model:-2g eclipse-7m-gte supra jza70-some mustang kits(cheapo's only, nice ones have two balanceed outlets for v8)-evo ix-evo x

As far as I know, most of those are intake/outlet on one side or atleast pointed both one way.

I will eventually upgrade to a greddy IM so for now I wont be selling it. From what I was told this r33 inter cooler can handle up to 500 hp.

Thanks for the advice !! Flow was a pretty big concern. The god speed one you're looking at seems really nice I might grab one of those too !

Thanks for the pictures and replies everyone.

Actually the one posted on the top, The http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...AX:ITIs the most efficient design, the longer smoother end tanks reduce turbulence and shorter tubes, mean that the charge air gets a better cooling with the least loss of pressure if you make sure that the IC gets good airflow.

Corky Bell Says "Always Increase the core area by adding a greater number of internal passageways. DO NOT just make the Same number of passages longer""greater internal flow due to larger number of tubes- therefore lower pressure loss"

Source: Intercooling Chapter 5 in "Maximum Boost: Designing, Testing and Installing Turbocharger Systems" By Corky Bell Published By Bentley Publishers Copyright 1997

I hope this helps!

Can I bring this back from the dead please!!! Whats the best way of going about the piping? Buy a universal piping kit and just use couplers or sell an arm to have someone custom fab one? Theres not a lot of fab guys in Upstate NY so Im lookin for some help on this one.

I went with an R33 'Kit'.
I had to modify every single piece to make it 'fit'. and the FMIC was excessively tall.
BUT, I did this because I did not want to spend $300+ on mandrel bends and only use a few of them. I made it work, but I already have all of the equipment that I needed (chop saw & MIG (MTIW) welder). I did order extra T-bolts and a length of additional silicone hose though.

It really comes down to what you want to do man. I used someone elses work as a 'template' and made it work to my standards, if I didn't have the equipment, I would highly consider taking it to a reputable shop to build solid IC piping.
(and by 'solid' I mean there should only be two solid pipes and four couplers used - Turbo to hot pipe, hot pipe to FMIC, FMIC to cold pipe, cold pipe to TB - oh, and the two that connect the AFM to the turbo intake, provided you are using a draw-through (stock) AFM).

Mckinney Motorsports sells an intercooler kit with pre bent piping that will hook right up and fits perfect but its not cheap.
