Front mount intercooler piping

I have an SR20DET in my 89 240sx. I bought a front mount intercooler that has 3" inlets on both sides. Do you guys think 2.5" piping on both sides is big enough?

It won't be ideal, but 2.5" will be fine w/ a 2.5 -> 3" coupler.

biggest id go on the hotside would be 2.25 inches. and whatever the size of the throttlebody on the coldside
