I just recently installed a Front mount on my car, and after about 15-20 minutes of 70mph and above driving the car overheats. I fixed the problem, by adding two 11inch SPAL high performance fans, but I was wondering if you guys had to ugrade your cooling system after ur front mount, or it was a problem i only had.

have you upgraded you radiator? and are still using AC? if you answer yes on the AC then you might want to thing about cleaning out the core..it might be very dirty..its the first thing that dirt and debris come into contact...than you can also have stuff stuck in between the radiator and the condensor..that is if you still have the condensor. if you havent replace the radiator then you might want to think about doing that too or clean the core of the one thats in there. when you instal a FMIC it WILL cut down the air flow...it also could have something to do with the temp of your environment.

I have a koyo on my auto sr. running only 2 10"fans. If fine. never runs hot. I have a/c also. I just recently installed a FMIC bar & plate type. It still runs cool. I live in S.Florida, So I know hot. What kind of mixture are you running in your cooling system? Try running less than 50/50 this can help and maybe invest in a cowl plate cover to direct more air through your rad.

what kind of fans are u running?? and i was wondering if an exhaust leak between my downpipe and turbo elbow could cause my car to overheat over a long period...say 20-30 minutes of highway driving.....

I had the same problem when I put my fmic on. I upgraded to a koyo and electric fan and it helps but after alot of hard driving the temp does still go up. I have a leak between the turbo and manifold to, I dont know if that is a contributing factor.

Oh, where in ga are you, I am in gwinnett.

I'm running flexalite fans. What ratio of coolant to water are you using in your Radiator an did you bleed your system of air?

get rid of yer electric fan and put the clutch fan back in...i dont care what ANYONE says on this forum...electric fans DO NOT cool the engine properly...infact there was write up recently on different fans and radiators...guess what beat out all of the fans (save for the dual electric fans from an altima)...the stock clutch fan and shroud...so with that said...with yer FMIC blocking 90% of the air flow to yer radiator as it is...put yer clutch fan back in with stock fan shroud...this should deal with the problem very well...electric fans arent worth the money given they cause more problems than they solve

So an altima fan would work on a s13 sr20det engine with a koyo rad.? If so from which model year of altima would you use the fan from?

I assume this is the test you are referring to.

http://home.satx.rr.com/nissan...t.htm

Which according to the results says,"The stock SR mechanical fan and shroud is NOT on par with the Flex-A-Lites and Altima fans but is does an acceptable job of cooling"

Never saw that test but it does answer part of my question but I assume the fan from a newer altima model would work just as well?

Gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you on this one. We've done 80 swaps, all with electric fans except maybe 4 with stock. Electric fans work fine. I run AC with one single Permacool 14" for the last 3 years with no problems.

I don't care what that test says, you can't argue with real-world installs and real experience on 80 cars.
