Hi. I have a 2007 M35 with the DVD in the center Console and Navigation.
A few days ago when using the reverse camera the colors in the screen changed to a pinkish colors. The image was vibrating a little and I could tell the reverse lines (Green,Yellow and Red on the Reverse screen) where also different. When the DVD is being watched it is doing the same thing; Color variations. In Radio mode and Navigation mode there are no color variations.

What could this be?
DVD in center console? Backup Camera?

Hmm...sounds like some loose cables...I'm not sure how to get to the back of the monitor though...

IlyaKol.
I checked the back of the BackUp Camera and the connection is plug and play and not loose. The cable behind the camera is permanently attached to it as well.
I do have the Nav Hack so I have a switch right by the DVD in the center console that tells the DVD to play while driving if its on. However when the switch is off and the Nav is acting normal I still get the problem with the back up camera.

I am almost sure the center speaker/front air vents piece pops off and the monitor should be exposed. But I have not done it. I am afraid of breaking a clip or something and then be screwed.

Does changing the Control module (DVD,GPS,BLUETOOTH) require a re-program from the dealer?
I am opening that today and if I see all cables behind the module ( in our glove compartment ) properly connecting and no sign of wear or loosen then I am going to buy a used one in ebay. Wondering if that will work.

We have a video switch controller and from the sounds of it it could be the source. I'm just not exactly sure where it is. I would venture a guess that its the silver hard drive looking component found under the main nav panel on the front console? Try reseating those cables first before spending money.

Or perhaps its loose connections from all the rattling bass from your 12" RF sub hahaha

Svard mentioning a video controller just reminded me of something you'll have to search for if you want to check it. There was a thread on this forum with a how-to for installing rear monitors in the headrests to display the video from the center console DVD player. The how-to would have hacked in between the DVD player an the front monitor, so it may not help, but it would be a good place to start, in case the video controller is located in it (there is a video splitter added in it, but that is from the DVD player output)). FYI, the rear camera and the DVD player in the center console both provide analog video while the rest of the system provides digital video. The fact that you have video problems on both analog signals definitely implies (in order of likelihood in my experience) a loose connection, a bad video switch controller, or a bad analog to digital converter. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the digital converter is in the screen itself or elsewhere, so I'm not sure any of this information really reduces the area you need to search, although reseating the harness for the DVD player in the center console might be the easiest place to start and might affect both analog connections (albeit on separate wires, so if the behavior is completely identical on both video sources, that's probably not where the problem is). Hopefully finding that thread will help more than my rambling.

thank you Svard75. Funny on the sub. But I don't crank it that much. haha. I thought that in the front console the box is the CD changer and radio. I am going to be checking the cables behind the Nav dvd slot in the glove box and see.

This helps. thank you! I am going to check under the DVD player in the center console and the Nav behind the glove box. (I know that for the Nav/DVD Hack they tapped there).
It does help narrow down knowing these 2 are analog and the others are digital. It makes sense now why the Nav screen, Radio, Set Up and everything does not have any color variations and look normal.

I reviewed the schematics and bus lines run from the camera controller to the dvd player then to the video distributor. Your symptoms point to the dvd player. As dustin mentioned reseat the cables on the center console dvd player.

Thanks.
Is there a post on how to remove the dvd player from center console? I searched but couldn't find any

I figured it out and the cables are coming from the switch to the back of the Nav/Bluetooth behind the glove compartment. They do not look smashed. Could it be the switch going bad?

That's your NAV hack switch. If the switch was bad you would experience intermittent use of your DVD player while driving not pink color screen issues. I'm thinking you should try to remove and reconnect the wires connected to the back of the DVD player.
