That's why it's on my car and not yoursIlya wrote:IMO, either leave it off or put it in the center. Everything else just looks goofy as hell. Only time I see people running them on the side like that are the boys with Civics, Evo's, WRX's, etc. Sorry to Swiss, but I don't think that looks good. At all.
No one said you had to make me happy lol. I'm just saying that, personally, I think it looks terrible. Just like I think that the guys with 'camber' look stupid as hell with their wheels leaning at ungodly angles, or the guys who are so low that half their wheel is hidden in the wheel well, etc...it's all goofy and terrible to me. But, as all mods go, as long as the owner is happy then that's all that matters. No harm, no foul in disagreeing.SwissCheeseHead wrote:That's why it's on my car and not yoursIlya wrote:IMO, either leave it off or put it in the center. Everything else just looks goofy as hell. It's state law to have our plate in the front, so I don't have much of an option. I also didn't want it taking away from the aero bumper, which I feel it would have were it in the center. I definitely it looks better than the Stillen tow hook mount, which makes it look like the car has a buck tooth.
The nice thing about the Skene mount is that I can move it where ever I want, without visible holes in the front bumper, so if I wanted to make Ilya happy, then I could move it to the center without any visible damage. Too bad he's going to have to live with my design choice.
I agree. I don't like it off-center. Ilya, is yours the factory license plate holder? That looks like what I'd prefer.Ilya wrote:IMO, either leave it off or put it in the center. Sure, please let me get a peak and if I like it, let me know how much shipping costs.mikedamageinc wrote:There is a factory mounting plastic thing. There was actually an extra one in my car when I bought it, you can have it if you want. I'll post a pic up later when I get home.
That system requires a side mounted plate which looks hinky in my opinion. The plate looks best when centered on the bumper.CRV_33 wrote:You can check out Altec Products show n' go plates. It's a popular with the local Nissan and Infiniti guys in MN since we are required to have a front plate.
I currently have the manual non-powered model and it's held up well through its first winter.

I have no idea what you're talking but take it from someone who actually has it. Bolts to the top part of the bottom grill. It's a nice option to have when your car is on display at a car show plus it's handy to put the plate away when you hand wash your car tooLarz wrote:That system requires a side mounted plate which looks hinky in my opinion. Also, in states that require front plates, they must be visible at all times, even when the car is parked. Having a hide-away plate looks cool, but the only place you can hide it is in your garage so why go through the trouble and expense? I suppose you could hide it at the car wash, but my car will never see a car wash as they use strong detergents and additives that dull the shine of my clay bar, polished, carnuba and detail rubbed finish.
Larz, what he's saying is that on OUR car it does not get mounted (the automatic plate system thing) off to the left or right since our bumper isn't pointed. The corvette has a pointed bumper, which is why it was installed to the left or right.Larz wrote:CRV,

I was not saying your folding plate was bad. I'm simply stating my opinion that the front plate looks best when centered under the grille, not off to the left or right. It's all a matter of preference.
You're right about car shows, too. The car is best displayed with no license plate on the front at all, and your hidden plate would be perfect for shows.
That pointed nose brings up a good point on the Corvette and why its mounted off to the side.Ilya wrote:

This is the same concept of why I mount my GoPro for vlogging while riding my motorcycle on the right side of my 'chin' part of the helmet versus right in the center...because my helmet comes to a point in the front (more aerodynamic)... >
Hey Larz no offense taken. Below is a photo of what I was trying to describe. I initially purchased the Stillen relocating kit which utlizes the front tow hook that goes through our front bumper off to the side. I could imagine that being a pain to remove and remount every time it was time to wash the car and attending a car show.Larz wrote:CRV,
