Well, I am back again. just finished the AC Blower motor repair, and now I have to do front hub bearings...

I bought the van for a great price, at auction... It looks and drives nice, but when you buy at auction, you get what you get...

We packed in the family and took a road trip from MA to MI and back... Went smooth, good driving van.. I really like it, but I have read in reviews (even before I bought it) that wheel bearings are a common problem and they tend to repeat fail. So this brings me to my question... In recent days, there is a growl coming from the front wheels... It started quiet at first, almost like an off road tire sound. But I had to take a trip to NYC and back to MA today and it now it's starting to sound more like a jet engine. :P So I know I gotta change the wheel bearings.

Is there a particular brand of bearing that outlast the others?(Is Moog the absolute best?) Which should I buy? Maybe better question, which should I avoid?

And is there a known other component causing the wheel bearings to fail?

It's a shame it didn't fail when I brought it home, the right front CV Axle had to be replaced, noticed it was bad on the way home from auction. Literally less than an hour in the driveway to replace. Extremely easy compared to an old Mercury I had... I know the bearing will come out relatively easy as well. Being sure to remove the ABS sensor first...

Does anyone have any suggestions on which bearing / hub assembly to buy or which to avoid?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Chris,
Looks like you never got a reply to your question.
I'm now taking care of my sisters '06 Quest.
It started out as a cooling fan issue...still in progress on that one...also having to fix the odo/temp/fuel LCD
When I picked up the van to bring it home to work on...holly wheeling bearing noise batman!
So what brand did you go with and what all did you have to disable to get the hub/bearing assy out?

Thanks
Britt

Hey Britt
I just changed my rear hub assy on my '07 quest and it was very easy.If you go on youtube there's a couple of good videos posted for the front as well.
I purchased mine at advanced discount auto parts.I bought the Moog brand.
If you order them online you can have them delivered to your home or you can also choose to pick up at the nearest store to you.Reason I ordered them only is because I found a code to get I think was 30% off the order but no more than $50 dollars.so I did two separate order one for each side and got a pretty good discount on them.all you gotta do is google advance auto parts discount codes.Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Good luck,
Jorge

The best thing to do is sell that piece of junk , it'll just be a money pit . I got rid of mine when the transmission started getting jerky
