Hello jayeywhy and welcome to the NICOClub Rogue Forums!

I don't think anyone has written up a step-by-step yet. The process of replacing the bulbs themselves are in your owners manual starting on pg 8-26.

If you want more detailed info on removing the headlamps themselves, please refer to the manual here:

http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Rogue/2009/

Section EXL contains info about the headlamps.

I just have the stock lights in my 09 Rogue S bought in Canada. Would I have Xenon's or HID lights in it? How can I tell? I was wondering if I swap out the high beam bulbs to the white bulbs they sell at crappy tire if they will be much brighter? Anyone try any of these $50 approx bulbs? Also do people usually swap out the low beams as well? I find the high beams not too bad but the low beam is not that bright.

Thanks

No xenon for Rogue in Canada....especially in S model. In US xenon lights comes only with SL w/ premium package (nowdays I think they call it differently). To see the difference simply turn your lights on and if they flash really fast like led but then starts to warm up you will see it on the wall that they slowly getting brighter. On halogen bulb most of the time you don't see that effect. Also when you turn your headlights on you should hear a click of ballast under the hood if you would have xenon lights. Here's an example of aftermarket hids:

Leo2005 is correct. HID headlamps were never offered on any Rogue sold in Canada regardless of year ('08-11) or trim level.

I had the stock halogen. I bought after market HID Xenon light with converter kit. Installation was very simple. Just plug and play. Working fine till now.

Searching the forum and also youtube for instruction helped with the process.

I bought the Sylvania Silverstar just for the low beams. They are a bit whiter than stock bulbs. I have had them on previous vehicles, they are not as long lasting as regular bulbs, but I had them as daytime running lights and as such they were on all the time. I will see how long they last as lowbeams, which are only on at night. I find unless the reflectors are designed for HID, usually these aftermarket HID's seem to shine everywhere whithout a proper angle and blind oncoming traffic.

I was looking at getting these HID bulbs in 5000K white. Link: http://www.carid.com/2009-nissan-rogue- ... 77434.html
Has anyone tried this kit and is it easy to install without cutting or splicing any wires? Also will they point properly?

I don't know what to say but it's gotta be a nice kit. I was reading a lot of positive feedbacks on different forums. It is as easy to install as any other hid kit as long as you buy H11 kit so it will work for you as plug-n-play kit. Most of aftermarket hids will not point the same way as originial halogen light so you will have to adjust it with screw driver. Use masking tape on the wall to mark the output of original bulb and compare with hid. If it's different from original then get a screw driver and adjust the screw on top of the headlight.

I would hope they are H11 but it does not say however it says for 2009 Nissan Rogue. The reviews look good just was hoping someone here had this kit or something similiar. I thought they were more expensive then $99.00.

Jostudly, you might check out these from DDM Tuning. http://www.ddmtuning.com/Product-Catego ... g/HID-Kits. Don't let the low price scare you away. You'll want to get the 35W kit. I don't think you need the error eliminator or even the relay harness, but if it turns out that you do I've got one that I would gladly send to you. They are a high quality product. I've got them on my Alti Coupe, and I've thought about putting them on the Rogue. I would recommend 5000K for a look that is close to the stock color. I had a set prior to the DDM's that were Xentec...looked exactly like the Notto's but with a different label. Anyways, they flickered a lot and I got rid of them. I think that the only way to go on these is with the "slim" ballasts.

I am looking for the white 5000k bulbs. Do not see where I can select the correct kit for a Rogue on the DDM site.

These kits are basically universal. You would just want to select 35 Watt, H11 bulb type, and 5000K bulb color. You should not need any of the accessories. If you want to check out the install on an Altima, here is the write-up for that http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/afterm ... ltima.html.

Okay so you think these will work better then the Notto's? Also are these just for high beams or can I get low beams as well?

I like the DDM Tuning kit. It's pretty popular in the Altimas as well. For high beams, you will need the '9005' bulbs, and for low beams you need the 'H11' bulbs. In order to do both the high and low beams, you will have to buy two kits. Not everyone is putting HIDs in the highs, because when you turn an HID bulb on, it takes it a few seconds to warm up and reach full brightness. Also, most people don't use their high beams that much. You might notice that on cars with factory HID projectors, such as the mid-2000s Maximas, that they only have an HID bulb in the low beam. The high beams use a halogen bulb.

Let me know how you make out installing the DDM lights in your Rogue. I just want to make sure it is an easy installation and I won't require any adapters.

Thanks

Impossible to say with only "white" to go on. Color temp isn't the same thing as brightness, despite what many apparently believe. In many cases, shifting to a higher color temp actually means less light.

What would the H11 bulbs measure in k's?

Halogen bulbs (like those used in most cars) have approximately 3300K color temperature. But this is just a measure of color... lower numbers meaning more yellow/red and higher temperatures are more blue. Light temperature is especially important in photography, film, etc as it effects colors.

Light output on the other hand is measured in lumens. And it's a measure of of lighting 'power' as perceived by the human eye.

I know I've ranted about this before, but I have never been a fan of putting aftermarket HID lamps into the stock halogen housings. The optics/reflectors needed for HID are completely different. The beam pattern you get with an HID light source and halogen reflector will never be as good as a true HID lighting system. A few of the more entrepreneurial members here (Leo2005) have went through the trouble to do it the right way... and buy OEM Rogue HID lamp housings:

I actually have a set of these in 6000k in my 09 Civic Si. They look great and are very white, a little bit more white than the stock HIDs on the SL but not too much. I just bought a set of the DDMs today for my wife's new Rogue SV as well.
