I've had a squeak in my car since I've owned it a bit over a year. Sort of a creaking noise from the front left(180SX)passenger side. It appears to occur 90% of the time when I have a passenger in the car and usually when turning and driving slowly over speed bumps and such, most of the time turning right I believe.

Anyway first I thought it could have been the shock absorber or a weak strut tower so I put on a strut brace to see if it made any difference at all which it didn't so I'm thinking it may be a bushing on the front of the car. I read about the tie rod ends causing noises and usually the left one going first but I had someone turn the wheel with the car on and parked with my hand on the tie rod end bushing I couldn't feel any vibration that would indicate its on its way out. The rest of the bushings under the car are red which indicate to me they've been replaced at some point. The ball joins on the front wheels are the only other thing I can think of.

So basically I'm after what would cause a creaking noise at times when driving slowly over bumps when turning and with a passenger in the car putting more weight and stress on those components.

Any help would be appreciated as I've ignored the problem long enough but every time I have a passenger in my car (which isn't often at all) I get a friendly reminder I need to fix it.

Springs tend to squeak. Check to see if there's metal to metal rubbing between the spring and your damper.

Or the spring and the perch.

Dead on guys, turns out a bolt used to mount the power steering reservoir was too long causing it to rub against the spring. More so with weight or when turning right as that would bring the spring closer forward towards the bolt.

This noise has driven me up the wall every time I've had a passenger since I've owned the car so I'm really glad it's fixed,
I haven't done extensive testing but I went for a drive with a passenger and did the usual maneuvers which would cause the squeak and got nothing, so apparently so far so good.

You should have seen a witness mark on the end of the bolt, as well as on the spring if that's where it was rubbing.

Yeah both the end of the bolt and small section on the spring are rusted. The end of the bolt is also worn, curved in a way that looks like the spring was wearing it from that angle.
