My 2009 murano with 19000 miles makes a clunking sound at low speed turns. Any ideas? CV joint ? CVT? thanks

I'm going to step on my soapbox for a minute, please don't take this personally...

I don't understand why everyone seems to blame the CVT for EVERYTHING! Radio not working? must be the CVT! Power windows making noise? CVT! Doors won't shut? CVT! Engine making a funny noise? Burning smell? Exhaust loud? You got it! It's the CVT transmission! Honestly, these are damn good transmissions, and like automatics, there will be some bad ones. The technology has been out for nearly a century, it's nothing new! Nissan is covering these transmissions for 10 years / 120,000 miles, so don't worry about the CVT failing anytime soon; if it does, you're covered.

Sorry about that, really... here is my real analyses; Nissan IS known for strut bearings, which can clunk as you're entering a turn; and if you can duplicate this problem with a Nissan tech ride-along, you'll have this thing fixed in short order. If the problem is a continuous thunk while rolling in a turn, you're probably looking at CV joints or wheel bearings.

Was the sound like a rythmic thumping?? I have this thumpin in my MO, and I cant figure it out, its getting real bad. I am pretty sure if the CVT does fail, it would prob just stop driving
