have a 89 hatch and it is on complete stock suspension - anyways, everytime i come to a stop (say from 40 mph) as soon as i hit about 20-25 mph, i hear a click noise (rickity sound) coming from the front driver side.

sometimes i hear the noise from the front passenger side also..

I hear the strong click noise around 25 mph, can let off the brakes and apply the brakes again and hear the click noise again. It seems as if i only hear the click noise when the front suspension is under a load?!?!

any suggestions?

its not bad, but it can get really annoying. i dont hear the noise when i hit bumps or anything, mostly when slowing down at lower speeds.

another thing - when i hear both sides make the click noise, they are not simultaneous at all. I'll hear one and then the other side will make the same noise a couple seconds later...

sorry, not much of a suspension buff obviously, but when you say tie rods, are they the same thing as tension rods>?

also, which bushings are you talking about?subframe, rack and pinion, etc?

Just jack it up with loose lug nuts so you can take the wheel off, but first just jiggle the wheel and see if your tie rods are bad. It'll have like 1 or 2mm of play in the direction of toe or steering. Tie rods connect to the rear of the steering knuckles.

Probably just a loose bolt for your shocks or LCA, possibly a worn out lower ball joint, check to see if it looks intact. If you changed bushings on your lower control arm, check to see if where it mounts to the subframe is torqued down to nearly 100ft lb.

If you have coils it might also be your pillow ball mount is loose, just tighten it.

Have a friend watch your front wheel from the side as you roll across a smooth parking lot. At about 20 mph as you pass near him, jab on and off the brakes. If he see's either front wheel jump back in the wheel well opening, then return forward as you are off the brake,I would be looking for the worn suspenion part that is allowing the wheel to shift. If you dont see movement in the wheel well opening you may consider looking at caliper mounts or anti-rattle clips on your pads.

check your brake pads...if you got cheap ones in there you prolly got brake pad slap. This was the same exact problem on my car.
