I went in for a front end alignment and they said they needed to install shims!! They couldn't do castor and chamber untill alignment shims were installed and they where charging me $220+tax!! My question is can I do this myself and then take back to align? I've done my research on how to get to the shims but not sure where I can buy shims, how many and if its possible or does this has to be done at the shop? Any info would really be appreciated!! I don't feel like spending $250 if I can do it myself!!

You can google shims and buy them but the alignment still needs to be done on a machine and the proper shimming has to be done then to get it in spec. You may get close but chances of hitting it spot on is 1 million to one. Call around maybe find a more reasonable price
