The quality of the picture looks fine to me, seems to have done very minor damage to the other car..

Anyways, I believe that the airbags don't deploy unless the impact is at a certain "rate" or so. Meaning if someone hits you at 10 mph than it might not deploy but if someone hits you at 35 mph they will deploy.

If thats the case than you should be glad that they didn't deploy because I believe that airbags are SUPER expensive to get replaced.

Anyways... sorry to hear about your wreck. Hope things turn out ok!

Airbags are "smart" these days - and only deploy within specific parameters.

Were you injured?

P.S.Don't take this the wrong way... but the picture looks like it was faked because of the relative positions of the pickup and the damage to the Versa.

What? To me it looks like a legit accident. I really don't see how anyone could (or would) think otherwise. And besides, why would he want to fake it?

That sux... sorry to hear about that... hope your OK.

The reason the bags did not deploy is that you hit a truck. Your bumper has the airbag sensors in it. You hit above the bumper.

the air bags would not have deployed in this accident due to a couple of instances, you actually did trip the sensor in the bumper but you did not trip the secondary sensor in the air bag control module it takes 2 sensors to trip for the air bags to deploy. main reason for this is that an accident in the 10-40mh range does not have enough force to trip both sensors (unless you trip the main control module sensor by itself)(or a head on collision resulting in an 80mph impact). Your accident appears to be just outside the threshold of the airbag module parameters to be deployed. if the air bags had deployed you might have actually suffered more injuries in the accident then just a few sore muscles and bruises

Good to hear everyone were ok.

I wasn't trying to imply you faked the accident - was just commenting how contrasting the damage looks between the versa and the pickup.

Sensor is located in front between the horns.

See my car after accident, it is almost identical to yours...

Driver side airbag went off and both seat belt tensioners locked up.

I see quite a few accidents where a big truck or suv has minor bumper damage and the car was smashed. Cars are built light weight and to crumple. Trucks are heavy and strong. This usually leads to a bunch of idiots driving those things just for that reason even though in reality they are no safer (roll-over anyone?)

First, go to the dealer and cash in the extended warranty.

If I recall, Autopac is fairly firm in their offers but you can always try -- take in a copy of newspaper ads or the Autotrader to bolster your argument for another grand [don't expect much more, if that]. And if you can, find out if anyone you know has had positive dealings with an Autopac office and go there -- sometimes it depends on teh agent [and the day -- how harried or how bored they are, or if they've gotten into a fight that day with boyfriend/wife/etc]
