I changed out the stock speakers in my (then) new Honda Odyssey and ran into 4 of the cheapest, cardboard junkers I have ever seen. I have a Versa SL now and I must say that the sound system with the OEM sub woofer in the back sounds very nice to my wife and I. I had to do an entire rip and burn change over in the Odyssey including building a custom sub box. I havn't looked at the speakers in the Versa Doors yet as they sound OK so far. Also the V's tweeters are up in the A pillar, closer to your ears and that helps, over the ones burried in the dash, close to the windshield. I know the theroy was that the glass is supposed to bounce the sound back, but to my ears, it never did.
I would like a little more response from those V' tweeters tho, and might put in a couple of bigger ones that have a greater FQ range and create a better 'sound stage' up front.
I ran into them when I had to pull the A pillar trim off to route wires for the radar detector and the Compass-temp- auto dimming mirror and there seems to be lots of room for an easy up grade there.
I wish the Car production design people would get some Audio Head consultants in to design the system before they get into production that would result in us owners not haveing to retro the entire system to make it right.
It wouldn't cost anymore to do it all right during the design stage and make everyone happy to hear a good system, right out the door.
But if your Versa door speakers are cheap paper crap, by all means rip them out and upgrade away.
I think the Versa SL's sound system runs Rockford Fosgate speakers. Gotta' be a step up from "cheap paper crapers"
