Hey, new to the forum.

My 2003 pathfinder SE 4wd is slowly leaking from both sides of the front axle. I have an appointment to get the seals redone, but I want to top off the front diff oil before I travel for the holidays. What is the recommended type of gear oil, and does anyone know where I can get the shop manual that lists the fluid types?

Thanks

you can download the nissan factory shop manual here on the site, its in the top of our forum in the HOW-TO's section.

in my 2000 qx4, the recommended is 80w90 pennzoil (the yellow bottle) just don't buy it at the dealer $10 a quart, the same exact stuff in an auto parts store is $3 a quart !!!

I used full synthetic gear oil when i changed mine,

Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 75w-90w if i recall correctly is what i used, the rear took about 2.5 quarts, maybe a bit more or less, and the front i think was 2 quarts give or take some.

@ Fueler, you ever change out your transfer case oil? i think im gonna do mine before i use it this winter, but do you know if its ATF fluid? And also do you know an estimate of how much goes in?

Thanks if you know.

I changed my transfer case fluid last month, calls for synthetic automatic transmission fluid. Fill with 3.2 quarts, I used a pump to fill the fluid.
