I have a 1993 240sx convertible and my front crank seal is leaking oil everywhere and making a mess. I need to know what tools and what i have to do to fix this. i understand that my fan, intake, radiator shround all have to come out. What suggestions do u have for the crak pully. i already have a new seal for it.

For the crank pulley you will need a 2 or 3 jawed puller and a 27mm socket. Break loose the bolt (after all the belts are off) and use the puller to pull off the pulley. The crank seal should be behind that, flush with the front cover.

ya pretty easy, crank bolt might be hard to get off if the first time u did it, spray some wd or something let it set a few minutes. be careful removing/putting in the new seal, first time i did mine accidently cracked a piece of the timing chain cover and oil pump quit working, didnt even know it till i cranked up the car and had no pressure. and a 5 minute job turned into 2 days :P

Your gonna need a chain wrench to hold the pulley while you loosen and tighten the bolt.

Unless your pulling the chain off you dont need to worry about it being on TDC. The chain wrench wont hurt the pulley.

Or if it's still in the car, you can put it in 5th and have someone stomp the brakes while you tighten to spec with a torque wrench.

I just read its a convertible though, which means probably auto? If that's the case then disregard this.

u dont have to worry about tdc or anything for just the pulley, has a key so it will only go back on the right way. i didnt need a chain or anything, just long pull handle and it broke loose. if its a man 5th gear trick would work good too i f u cant get it

I have 2 ways of dealing with the bolt if not useing the cahin method. One is impact gun. If you have the space it can betaken off and reinstalled with out a chain or proping the car in gear.

To break it looses by other means. take a breaker bar and stilt it against the ground on the drivers side. then bump the starter it will break it loose. Tihtening is a differnet story though you would need to have something to hold the pulley then.

if you've a manual, you can put the car into 5th gear (motor off of course) and use a breaker bar with a pipe to bust the bolt free
