My 240 was recently wrecked by a crazy lady in her lexus, which really bites. BUT, the good news is my car is still perfect, minus the front clip. The really cool thing is I may get my sr20 out of the deal. MY only problem is DOES THE SILVIA FRONT CLIP SWAP WITH THE 240 FRONT CLIP??? If so I can buy a silvia front clip, swap it with mine, and I get my car fixed with the added bonus of the sr20. I know the front clip doesn't come with body panels but I was about to convert my front end to a silvia anyway. If anybody knows if the front clips are exchangeable, I would really appreciate your two cents.

They are interchangeable but it is not suggested that you weld on a JDM from clip to a USDM rear if thats what your asking. The changing of fronts would have adverse effects on the structural integrity of the car. What parts of your front are damaged?

That is NOT a good idea. Like speedracer said, the integrity of the whole chassis will be lost. Also, a jdm clip has many mountings and such on the opposite side. It would cost more to get the JDM clip on there and align it all correctly with the rest of the chassis while maintaining left hand drive then to go out and find another car.

yeah... that car has to be totaled if the front end is smashed to s***.

Just use the insurance money to fund a project car. :)

.... unless you still owe money on your car. In that case... Sorry. :(

The car probably will be totaled but I can buy it back for 10-15% of what they total it at and I get the rest of the money. This is my project car, I've almost got enough to buy an sr20, but if I can get it with the insurance money then I've got an extra 2500 for upgrades and stuff. The damage is mostly the passenger front corner, and my mech says he can fix it w/no prob. So I'll probably just buy the sr with the insurance money. HEHE. It's gonna be a bad mother when I get done.

if there is ANY frame damage, i would NOT recommend doing a motor swap into the car....

when looking for a car to swap a motor into ,the MOST important factor is having NO frame damage, it really isnt worth the money you will put into it if it has been in an accident, better off keeping that as a daily driver if your going to fix it, and using something else for the project car.

I strongly agree with Snarlynx and I H8 NICO. Frames are not things to be toyed with. They usually total cars for a reason, either the car is too crappy to fix or even if it were fixed it would still be unsafe for public roads. Besides even if you did manage to get the car back together and maintain the slightest whif of structural integrity you would then have to go through all of the trouble to get a salvage title for it and the insurance company might not like that...

My 95 240sx had frame damage (in the front right passenger corner), crushed my battery a little, had to get the frame replaced in that area, and buy, a new fender, hood and bumper...and I'm getting the SR swap done (engine is on order with Daunt). The key is if it got into an accident getting it fixed by a professional who's going to put quality parts n' to the frame.

Still.... If I were 200sx I'd part out my 240sx and use the money to buy a s13 with a strait frame (and a blown engine :D )

once the frame is bent, it wont ever be the same...the chassis will lose some rigidity, it might not be noticable at slower speeds, and normal driving, but will be multiplied when you swap the motor, race the car, etc....

The cost of buying another 240 with a straight frame shouldn't be much more (if any) than straightening the old one. I am in favor of reusing recources, esp. things like cars that harm the environment when being made, but common, let the car go.
