Im wondering how complicated and time consuming it will be to simply deal with the front clip.

i assume that you have to rent a forklift to remove it from the shipper's truck, or to remove it from your own trailer.

im also wondering how much the empty front clip (after the engine/transmission, and everything else necessary is removed) weighs.

I would prefer to pick up a clip for the obvious reasons of the occasional nut bolt or part that i could source from the clip, but im worried that i wont be able to manage it based on space and logistics requirements.

anyone have a story they can tell me about what it takes to actually get the clip to and from your house?

It is totally worth it to get a clip. The place I bought it from delivered it by a flat bed for $150. (this was about 100 miles) We got it off the flat bed with a cherry picker. We jacked it up a little, and drove the truck out. Once I stripped everything I needed, I was able to sell the remains for $450. Everybody and their mother wants to do a RHD these days for whatever reason. I got more then usual because it had some goodies, like a JDM digital gauge cluster, digital climate, and the dash was good. Depending on the clip though, you should at least be able to have someone take it for free.

Whats nice about getting a clip is you basically get everything you need. You can also start it up so you know it runs. It also offers protection. And, you will know the mileage for sure.

You will want some space if you plan on doing this. We were able to move the empty clip from the garage to the back yard by putting some wheels on it, and sticking 2x4s into the rear frame rails. it took 2 guys to wheel it around like a wheelbarrow. If you have the space, a few friends, and a cherry picker, you should be good.
