Hmm we let my clip slide down the trailer, but it had wheels on the front and was sliding on the frame rails in the rear of the clip so nothing important was actually touching the ground. If yours doesn't have wheels on it maybe try and round up some spare tires that are the right bolt pattern. With wheels on the front it was easy enough to hold up the back of the clip and move the clip around steering with the steering wheel.
Also if the ramp is steep at all you may consider trying to devise some kind of rope and pulley system, a wench, or something like that to let it slide down slowly. The ramp mine came off of wasn't very steep so we were able to keep it under control. Just remember better safe than sorry. I know you want to get it ASAP, but if something happens to it think of how much longer it'll be before you can get another one.
