What's up people, just like the title says. To make a long story short, the wife and I drove to Texas to visit my wife's family and my car was parked in the hospital parking lot and yes, some DA, hit me and cracked the grill and put a decent size hole in the front bumper. Called USAA and they informed me that they will pay for everything, I will not have to come out of pocket for nothing. The agent explained to me that since I live in Ga, and the hit & run happened in Texas, the company will pay for all damages up to 50,000. I was told that Ga is the only state that does that. I'm a happy camper. Will be going to the repair shop sometime tomorrow to start the ball rolling on getting my car fixed. Will keep you guys updated.

Good News, I live in FL and came out of the local Walmart to find this:

Image

$500 deductible for hit & run here, so I decided to live with it (no guaranty it would not happen again tomorrow), degreased it, and sprayed it with Duplicolor's Toyota Pearl White--Duplicolor does not make a matching paint for Infiniti's code QAA "Aspen White", but the Toyota PW (my wife's 2012 RAV4 is that color) is very close...

That's a good turnaround for an otherwise sad situation. I'm curious if other insurance companies do that too for GA-insured residents.

By your username, I take it you have a 37 sport. Did you have the sport/aero and are you keeping the same?
Safe to assume no one is scrambling for the base bumper. Lol

I believe it is called uninsured motorist clause. Here in VA (my) deductible is $200. I used it recently when I had my Quest towed and the tow person completely messed up my front bumper and several other things. My insurance company got me the bumper cost from the tow company, who denied all other items being their fault. I got it all damages covered (except the $200 deductible) under uninsured motorist coverage.

The laws vary by state and it may also vary by the insurance company.

I Have uninsured motorist coverage, however the offender still has to be identified--in my case it was hit and run. At Walmart they told me I had to have a Sheriff's DEputy request review of their surveillance tapes, so I reported it to the Sheriff's office and a Deputy met me there, the tape showed an older white Chevy pickup with a 9x10 or so landscape trailer backing into the car. But, no front tag here in FL and the trailer had no tag (the rear tag on the truck was obscured by the trailer), so I am S.O.L...

I was not aware that the offender must be known to file under the uninsured motorist. In my case I guess he was known since it was the towing company....

Good luck with the repair

With out an ID of the offender I still have to pay the $500 deductible on the comprehensive coverage--so while not S.O.L. I am $500.O.L. --the body shop quote was $653, INs. would pay just $163 of that--I'll live with it....

A "towing company" had no insurance? That would be illegal in Florida. A business has to have liability coverage ot they cannot get a business license...

Also, if you cannot ID the offender how can you show their "uninsured motorist" status?

Went to O'Reilly to have them check my charging system and the guy scratched the s*** out of the only front panel that didn't have an issue. I'm dealing with a company that will screw me out of the repair and quite frankly I'm sick and tired of others screwing up my vehicle. Not to mention the foot long scratch that someone put in my good and the other fender getting scratched up. I might just do a carbon fiber hood and trunk wrap.

Can't have anything nice, I thought it was only me getting my car messed up. Sorry to hear your stories.

Andy

They had insurance alright, but they denied the damages were done by them. My local agent filed the difference under uninsured motorist to get the deductible down for me. I do not know what one has to prove to file that way (as I had my insurance person take care of it for me), but that was his way of saving me $300. He also was the one to suggest it's done this way to get the larges payout. Great customer service overall, as a side note....

I don't need to give my car to anybody, my kids take care of it for me in front of my own house (bike scratches, scuffs and other dings) :tisk:

Car should be ready this Saturday, if so, it only took the shop 4 days to repair my ride and my daughters, her car was parked in parking area when the rear bumper was scratched and somebody shopping cart hit her passenger door. I have been with this company over 20 years and they have always been right with me. I filed a report with the police in Texas when it happened (hit & run, uninsured and filed paperwork here in Georgia for the same thing for my daughters car).

Bumper is on and it looks Great, my 11 looks like a brand new car, she is one sexy beast now. Sorry for not posting any pictures but she is a thing a beauty and as GORGUS as ever. They had to paint the hood and the left & right fender to get the 3 stage pearl white to match. Just wanted to let you all know the outcome.
