I am a beginner to auto repair and I am in the process of changing my stock front brake pads on my 93 240sx. I successfully changed the pads but when I went to swing the caliper back down it interferes at the lower part of the caliper. Is this lower bolt supposed to slide like the upper one? If it is can it be repaired and how?:help

yes both the "pins" should slide in and out of the carrier. it may have seized in its bore. If you are lucky you may be able to get it out without damaging it and be able to reuse it. try grabbing ahold of it with a pair of pliers and rotating it in its bore back and forth while pulling it out of its bore. if it comes out you should be able to reuse it once the bore and pin are cleaned and lubed. if it is just stuck and will not move you will most likely need a new caliper.

If they are rusted in you can still get them out. I have got them out you may need a new rubber boot kit for the pins. Just heat them up with a tourch for a couple of minutes and they wil shout out. So do this with water near and outside because they will shoot out several feet. After you get them out sand them down and put some anti-sieze stuff on them. Nick
