front brake piston?!!

Hi guyz... well im here changing the front brakes but i forgot how to push the piston back. So it doesnt let me put in the new THICKER brake pads. I've done this before but it was a while back so im not sure of the entire procedure.

all your help is appreciated.

i use channel locks, or sometimes a piece of wood and a C clamp.

i dont have any of those tools. Is there a simpler way. and you said a piece of wood. How do i go about doing that?

i use a piece of wood and place it on the piston, then take a C clamp placed on the wood to compress the piston back in. The wood is there to allow the C clamp to apply its force to the piston more evenly.

You don't even have a set of pliers? Anything that allows you to squeeze the piston back in is all you need.

Channel locks are a set of pliers that have different ruts on one handle and allow you to change the pivot point of the plier.

sorry man. ima go try this... the tools i got, I was just not sure about how to go about doing it.

edit: thanks man... it worked. now i got ANOTHER challenge.

...what happens when you take all 4 lugs off and the wheel still wont come off? guess i gotta buy some lube.

Kick the tire or get something to pry on it a bit. Shouldn't be stuck on there too bad as I imagine it's just corrosion.

Lol, just pull really hard. Its just stuck to the hub.

Or, jack the car up a little more b/c the tire is still touching the pavement.

yeah... i kicked the hell outta the tire today. gonna get some lube soak it over-night and kick it some more.
