Kinda finally getting around to doing basic maintenance and some much needed stuff despite of the weather. I was cleaning up my engine bay and changing my oil and noticed the 2 front belts are CHEWED, the 4 ribber is missing bits and both are pretty badly cracked, so I might aswell swap em if its as easy as it looks.

I just jumped under the car and noticed 2 (im assuming) tension adjusting bolts, one for each bet. Is it simply cracking the pulley center bolt loose and then turning the head of that bolt to loosen it up? Or is there a locknut or something?

Left side

Right side

Was laying in the snow so I couldnt really feel around. Just curious.

I also couldnt see any markings on the smaller belt. The one is a:4K372

Does anyone know what the thinner belt size numbers are?

Thanks alot

Congrats, you just saved yourself $108.00 I just had this done at the dealership and that was the labor charge (it was $155 total). I just don't have the time nor the desire to work on my car when the temperatures are below the temperature that turns water into a solid. I would have liked to do it myself but they were sqealing and I didn't want to wait 4 more months to do it.

6k465?

Doesnt that mean it has 5 ris and is 46" long? I obviously cant tell the length, but its THINNER than the 4k372, which is the fatter belt that drives the passenger side of the engine bay......

Alright, I just did this, and it took me about 30 min total, definetely a DIY job.

The correct belts are-6k465 ($28)-373K4 ($13)

Just to show how bad my large belt was (my fault for not checking it I guess)

How hard is it do replace those belts. I have to change mine in the summer. Can you list the steps( if possible) and what tools you need.

Thanks Mate

I could probably do it again in 10 minutes. All you need is a 12 and 14mm. Crack the pulley loose, unithgten the adjuster, belt off, new belt on, tighten adjuster til belt it tight, tighten pulley nut. Done. Easy

okay i never did the belts on my pathy, but from looking at the layout of the engine, it's similar to the 240.. and with the stock clutch fan in the way, changing all the belts took almost an hour.. most of the time was spent removing and replacing the fan and shroud.

after i went electrical fan and getting rid of the stock clutch fan on the 240, changing belts did take 10 mins like you said.

does the stock clutch fan require removal on the pathys as well?

How do you get the belt around the fan? Did you take the fan off?

You can maneuver the belt between the fan and the shroud easily enough without taking anything off.

Thanks....I was not sure if there was enough clearance to do that.
