I just had my drivers side front axle cv boots replaced and while they were out I repacked the inner an outer bearings with replacing the cv axle seal and the inner wheel bearing seal. Now the spline does not protrude enough to get the snap ring back in the groove. I need the axle to stick out an additional 1 - 2mm. Any ideas???

grab the axle from behind the hub and pull it until it sticks out enough.

put the wheel back on pop off the center cap of the wheel, low the vehical to the ground and the axle should poke thru

I agree, you will probably have to get the wheel back on the ground. I had to do so, after doing a brake job.

Also be aware (just in case) that these snap rings come in various thicknesses, and you are supposed to pick the one that barely fits (no play). I had to file one down a tiny bit, after doing the front brakes and bearings, to get it to seat in there. Maybe a tenth mm or so -- certainly nowhere near a mm.

you are suppose to seat the bearing or probably too much grease, but check your manual there is a procedure for seating or setting the bearing in the proper place and or psotion

Like alexf said just grab the cv shaft from behind the rotor and all that and pull it towards you, i had the same problem, and that's all i did.
