has anyone here swap out their front and rear speakers on the door? I don't want to completely replace all of my speakers and add sub and bunch of other goodies. i just want a "best bang for the buck" solution where i can buy new speakers and directly swap them in.

please share your thought and comment on this matter. again, i'm trying to stay away from completely redo the sound system. i want to utilize stock bose amps, most of stock speakers such as sub, tweeter, seat's speaker. i want to swap out those front and rear door speakers. Are they 6x9? are they 2 or 4 ohms?

HELP? :)

I believe they are 2ohm.

This is the ones I'm buying (per Crutchfield reps recommendation):

I'll do a write up when I do it.

if you just want to replace the door speakers, you will need fairly efficient speakers that are pretty close in efficiency to the stock speakers. I dont know what that efficiency is though, maybe someone else here knows.

Those speakers are cheaper here:

And the efficiency on those is good, they should work well enough with the other stock speakers.

are the front and rear speaker the same in both specs and size? i hate to buy the speakers that turn out bigger or not completely fit in the stock position. not to mention the wrong spec that will yield bad result.

ilyako, are you doing just the speakers swap or complete sound system?

enigma, where is this efficiency info that you speak of?

I'm doing the 4 door speakers, the two front door tweeters, and replacing the subwoofer with a 10" Alpine. Have to add a sound processor and an amp for the sub.

Thanks to Enigma for the help.

that's almost everything. do you have the premium package? do you have the seats with speakers on them? i'm guessing you're going to swap in a new amp to power all those new speakers and sub right?

Nope. I have the 8 speaker system.

1 in front dash
2 tweeters
4 door
1 sub

I'm not replacing the front dash one because it's a funcky size (3").

As far as the amp, I'm getting a mono amp to power the sub. The stock amp will handle the rest just fine per Crutchfield/Enigma.

My wiring is gonna look like this:

Stock amp -> MTX re-Q Sound Processor -> Polk PA400.1 Amp (with power from the battery/ground from the trunk) -> Alpine SWS-1023D Sub

The stock amp will do "fine" for all speakers except the sub as long as the efficiency is high enough. Through my logical calculations on the Bose systems power per channel (based on the available info), it looks like each speaker has about 17 watts of power to it (excluding the sub). However, that is for the Bose system. I have no idea about the power per channel in the 6-speaker unbranded sound system. So if you get speakers with 93db efficiency, then you can push them to 105 decibels before you start getting clipping at the amp and distortion with the Bose system.

The efficiency is also called sensitivity. Those Infinity speakers posted earlier have a sensitivity of 93 decibels measured from 1 meter away using 1 watt of power. Perceivable volume level doubles every 6 decibels, while power requirements double every 3db. Thus it takes a four-fold increase in power draw for a two-fold increase in volume.
So it is like this:
93db-96db-99db-102db-105db-108db-111db
-1w---2w----4w----8w----16w---32w---64w

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That chart is just for the speakers posted above with their 93db sensitivity.

i feel ashamed as i have a degree in computer engineering and did some courses with electrical stuffs yet i can't figure things out for myself :(

but many thanks for your inputs. i guess i'm going to wait till ilyakol to finish with his system and get his feedbacks on how the infiniti speakers work out. if they're good, i'll buy two sets and do a plug-n-play deal. hope this works out as i'm just looking for best bang for the buck solution.

Don't feel bad. I have a degree in IT and do support/networking for a living and am pretty good with electronics myself, but when it comes to some aspects (like this - matching components) - fuhhhggggeettta bout it. lol.

I will be doing a write-up for sure when I do. Probably be sometime late next month as I have other things planned for the next few weeks.

The system I want to 'do' is going to cost me like $550 on Amazon as opposed to almost $800 on Crutchfield (another trip from Enigma - dude owns lol).
