First off, I'm not sure of the correct terminology to use in describing my problem! I have a 93 240sx, 12,000 miles. Never had a problem with it until a few days ago. When accelerating in first gear from a stop, the car does that violent shuddering that happens when you either release the clutch too quickly or not give it enough gas as the clutch is released, yet I am not driving it any differently than I have before. In other words, I am having to give it much more gas to avoid the 'shuddering'. The car doesn't seem to have any problems after it gets going, though I do notice that in second gear, sometimes it acts like I shifted too soon. As far as I know, the car is completely stock, not even a power window in the thing, and like I said, I have never had a problem with it. The exception being a couple close calls in the snow! Admittedly, however, I recently went almost a year without an oil change.. It's tough for me to admit that.. Only other thing I can think of is the fact that I am running on pretty bald tires until I can get the snow tires on, and the day that the trouble started, I had inflated all four tires to normal pressure, as they were all pretty low. Thanks for any help!

ok, there are two basic categorys of problem you guys could be having(most likely).

1)flywheel out of flat/clutch slippagethis is where the flywheel warps or gets uneven deposits of friction material on it. then anytime you slip the clutch(like when starting from a stop) or if it slips on its own, you get a vibration thats refered to as a shudder. the solution to this is to replace clutch kit and replace or resurface flywheel.

2)engine running roughthis could be a misfire or something but it is completely different from the drivetrain stuff i mentione above.

from the sound of it you prob need to go with option 1. it has a very charachteristic feel to it so if you know someone experienced in this sort of thing they could help you out(if you took them for a ride).
