as the title states.. thats my plan. my stupid ca blew up a while back and ive decided to go with a ka (cheap, easy to find parts, not an SR)

ill be rebuilding the engine either way, im looking to put out 500hp at the wheels.

any recomendations on parts that would need to be upgraded? i.e. will the oem crank hold that much power, reliably that is, or should i build the entire motor. money doesnt really matter...

LUCKY haha

500 isnt that hard to get out of a KA. you could use the stock crank at that power level with no problems, but if you have the cash then you might as well get a fully balanced one and up the revs a little bit (assuming your building the head also)

good luck and smart choice with the ka

That's the same route I wanted to take, only problem is, KAs are a more rare item around here, than CA18DETs are in the US. Torque > RPM.
From all my research about KAs, OEM crank is fine even for higher whp, but have it balanced. Forged pistons. Rods might take that power, but with the price on a set of Eagles nowadays, I think there's no point in taking that risk. Apart from that, the usual: injectors/pump/larger MAF/FMIC/recirc. BOV/ECU tune, etc.
This kind of sums it up: adding-a-turbo-to-a-stock-ka24-noobs-read-t226410.html

On a side note, did you get a chance to measure your now unneccessary CA crank? :)
