Hi Everybody,

Im new here (I will post pics and stats on the Welcome thread). I currently have a 2003 M45 with 155 000 Miles on it and I was looking to get a new M45. Ive found one close to here, it`s a 2007 M45 Sport with 89 000 Miles ( 143 000km) but the only thing that is bothering me is the color, Its an Umbria grey, and Im not too sure about how I feel about it. I tried to search the forums for pics of M45, with no results. If any of you can post or link me to pics that would be great.

Heres some pics of my car and the one Im planning to buy:

Welcome to our sub-forum.

The M35 and M45 are identical...so, if you're looking for pics for ideas, just look at an 2006-2010 M and it'll give you an idea.

Looks like that Y34 is in great shape. The right buyer who knows what it truly is will offer good money for it.

Congrats on the new ride!! Welcome to NICO.

that's what I was thinking when I saw your first post - I have the same color - but mine is an '06...and it looks like you got the sport model too.

you're gonna love it - a fantastic driving car for a fairly heavy luxo sedan
time to mod!!!

Thanks Graig,
Yeah the color looks great. Theres one little thing that bothers me though. It seems to be a little bit sluggish compared to my Y34. Im not sure what it is but when I cruise around at low rpm with My Y34 I can just gently push the gas pedal and instantly you feel the torque push you back. But with the new one I have to push it harder and I seem to not feel the torque. It seems to me like the motor is choked. I have done a ecu reset yesterday and I will try it out to see if it helps. Also the guy that had the car had put an K&N filter on it, so I might take that off and maybe clean the MAF. What do you guys think? Thanks for the help in advance.

The Y34 was a hot rod, no question. It's one of my favorite cars built by the company, and they've held their value among people who know what they are... I've always thought it should have been the successor to the G50 Q45. V8 vs V6 power - you're going to notice a difference.

Waders,

there was an accelerator pedal service bulletin/reprogram which might help that lag, then whack in the @ss accelerator feeling....I think it helped mine.
There a lot of guys on the forum that have cleaned their MAF with no issues...others have stated the exact opposite, don't "f" with the MAF 'cuz it will break on you.
I've cleaned mine - very carefully and not had an issue.
Seems like most of us (at least the guys who seem to respond most often on the forum) stay away from the K&N filters, a few us have got the R2C CAI (again prolly not much help without a tune, but sounds more aggressive)

You could always get it tuned with UpRev, which should definitely help.

Thanks for the info guys. It might be the recall, Ill call infiniti in the morning to see if they can fix. What happens when theres a recall? do they fix it for free?

Also I wanted to say that I think the ecu reset worked for the low response. It might be a placebo but the car seems a little chipper then before the reset. Will keep you posted with updates.

Also does it have to be an infiniti dealer or can I take it to a Nissan dealer?

If you call the Infiniti dealer with your VIN# they can tell you if the recall has been done on the accelerator pedal.
My local Nissan dealer services Infiniti's BUT does not do warranty work so I imagine recall work would have to go to Infiniti also.

Thanks for the info, I called the dealer and they said I wasnt done on this car. But now Im having problem with my passenger low beam headlight. It flickers and then goes out. I have changed the bulb but it still does the same thing. Ive read that changing the ballast is a PITA. What should I do?
