Brought home a 1970 SPL a month or so ago... I have a habit of bringing home cars that aren't so pretty.

Last car (BRAT) took me close to 2 years to complete (small garage and 7 months of winter) and I am working around someone elses body work mistakes (probably from the 80s) on this one... but hey, these things aren't very common up here so beggers can't be chooser.

It sat outside for a few years however, I have separated the body from frame and fortunately am dealing with solid pieces.

In regards to what I am going to do with it... I plan to restore and enjoy it as a daily driver during summer and autocross it. Not sure what that means for the engine just yet but I will be going through and upgrading the suspension to include bushing springs and brakes.

I'll be stripping the frame and coating and then move onto the body. Engine build will begin this winter.

I am open for input... I grew up with new 510s (wagon and 2dr), so I love Datsuns.

Thanks ahead of time for your help!

I'll keep it updated as I make progress... as a disclaimer it's summer and fishing/hunting season so may be spotty until August ;)

Welcome aboard, FR!

I am absolutely in love with that BRAT! Any chance you did (or would do) a discussion on that restoration?

Such a cool car. My cousin has worked for Subaru since the early 80's, and he's owned one of everything (at least). I'm sure he'd LOVE to see yours. :)

Finally got started, decided to strip paint since the car had body work done 20+ years ago and I wanted to see what I was working with.

Winter is coming and my goal is to get the body solid and straight by Spring.
