Friend needs help with his Z33

so my friend just bought a 2003 350Z and it has alot of problems but his main problem that i cant even figure out what it is, is his tail lights will not light up with his lights, parking and normal but they will light up when he steps on the brakes. i was wondering if you guys might know what it is or what bulb is supposed to go there so i can check if they are the same.

fuse, stop light switch?

he said he checked the fuses, whats the stop light switch is it like the brake light sensor for the Z32?

it's the switch on the pedal that turns the brake lights on

the brake lights work but they dont stay on with the lights only when he brakes they light up
