Yeah my boy Noel just got himself a 1991 twin turbo RX-7 with ~40K miles on ther engine as a direct trade for his 1995 maxima. I will post some pics as of tomorrow, where he gets to unveil it to the Maryland crowd around here in rockville.I never knew that turbo rotaries had so much kick in the mid-range. Its like a whole different animal. Still he doesent know how to drive stick yet, so somebody has to teach him... ;)

Does anybody know how well these things drift?

Drift just fine. They are light weight and have good power and LSD. Good times. :D

seems a little heavy in the front compared to the back though. And the chassis is stiff. Almost like driving a supra. Thoughts?

edit: translation, i'm spoiled by a super-predictable s-chassis...

As far as I know the weight balance is near 50/50 on those cars. The engine sits far enough back it makes the car well balanced.

I want that one. I like those. I tried to find a turbo II but they were either jacked up expensive in decent shape, or they were total turds that weren't running right. I found LOTS of turdy turdy rotaries.

But anyway its a nice car, looks best in black or dark blue.

my brother was lucky. found an 89 rx7 turbo 2 for $4k, shipped cost him about 500 i think. he was VERY HAPPY to finally get his car after searching for months. i think he had it for about 6 months, then some trucker turned into his lane... he had no where to go but into the wall and do 2 360s. complete loss... and the car still wasnt paid off

on to my brothers second rx7. 91 turbo also... $6k... SOUREST LEMON EVER !!! put in 43k within a month of buying it. then it wouldnt even start, and more problems. sold it for $1k. what a waste

Yeah... 93-95 have the possibility to be the twin turbo FD's... third gen.

The 91 is a single turbo 2 2nd gen rx. Still an amazing car and probably more reliable than the 3rd gens.

WHy do you think that???That is in no way correct. The front end of that car is super light. Actually, the whole thing is. Rx7's are great cars, but the motors are way too finicky.... I used to have one, sold it long ago. I actually miss the car, very good looking and power delivery to boot.

I DONT KNOW

maybe its the old a ss suspension floating it about. Just drove it once anyways. Still the stiff chassis wasnt all a bad thing. as far as the twin turbo engine deal, all i know is that he said its not the original engine. I guess ill know tonight when i get some pics. Its dark blue...

Oh... well he may have dropped the twin rotor from a 93-95 in there but I know the motors from those have a LOT of possiblities for defects.
